2) Skeletal Care Academy

The Skeletal Care Academy (SCA) formerly known as Skeletal Care Initiative is an education programme developed to ensure that patients with cancer-related bone disease to receive the highest standard of multiprofessional care, allowing them to enjoy fuller healthier lives.

  • November 2008, in Prague (100 participants)
  • In May 2009 CECOG organized together with the SAKK a SCA Meeting with 200 participants in Vienna
  • In November 2009, CECOG organized together with the SAKK a meeting in Zurich for 50 participants from Germany, Austria and Switzerland.
  • 12-13 March 2010 SCA Annual Meeting in Paris organized by the Medical Knowledge Group and CECOG with 400 participants
  • 29-30 October 2010 CECOG and SAKK organized the SCA Meeting for smaller countries again in Vienna with 100 participants.
  • 25-26 February 2011 SCA Annual Meeting in Madrid organized by the Medical Knowledge Group and CECOG
  • 28-29 October 2011 CECOG and SAKK organized the SCA Meeting again in Budapest with 116 participants from 15 countries ( including : Austria, Bulgaria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Egypt, Hungary, Kuwait, Poland, Romania, Russian Federation, Saudi Arabia, Slovakian Republik, Slovenia, Switzerland, Turkey)
  • In November 2012, CECOG and SAKK are planning the SCA Meeting in Istanbul.

3) State of the Art EGRF targeting therapies in mCRC
“Personalized Treatment for mCRC”

Two Educational Meetings were held:

  • 22 November 2011, Prague – 32 participants
  • 3 February 2012, Warsaw – 27 participants

CECOG has now finished two studies (the CORE -1 and the CORE -2 Study) which have applied EGRF Inhibitors in metastatic Colorectal Cancer. CORE 1 compared FOLFOX and FOLFIRI both in combination with Cetuximab, CORE 2 investigated the ability to administer Cetuximab every two weeks.

Whereas the first trial was published in the World Journal of Gastroenterology, the second is still being evaluated regarding the results, but has provided some very interesting preliminary data. In order to further expand on these activities, CECOG is planning to hold educational meetings on the issue within our area.

Objectives:

At the end of the lectures, participants will be able to understand the principles, indications, techniques and limitations of anti-EGFR antibody treatment in metastatic colorectal cancer, will understand efficacy of EGFR antibody therapy in various lines of treatment. They will participate in case discussions and will learn to control therapy-associated side effects.
