CECOG Studies

A. Current Studies

CECOG is currently conducting two international multicentre prospective randomized studies. These studies include a randomized comparison on the efficacy of a combination of gemcitabine, epirubicin and paclitaxel (GET) versus the conventional combination of fluorouracil, epirubicin and cyclophosphamide (FEC) in the Breast 1
protocol and the randomized comparison of the addition of gemcitabine as maintenance treatment following the achievement of at least stable disease under combined chemotherapy with gemcitabine and cisplatin in NSCLC.
For both studies, i. e. CECOG-Breast 1 (GET vs. FEC) and CECOG-Lung 1, the protocols are open in all 12 countries participating in CECOG studies.
It is anticipated that 240 patients will be enrolled for each study.

CECOG-Breast 1 (GET vs. FEC)
A total of 45 patients has been randomized (cutoff date July 25th, 2000).

CECOG-Lung 1
The registrations for the NSCLC study reached a number of 81 patients (cutoff date July 25th, 2000) out of which 23 patients have been randomized.

Should you be interested to join, please contact CECOG cecog@cecog.at and indicate the number of patients you would be able to include per year.

B. Anticipated Studies

Under the sponsorship of CECOG, a new study for a randomized phase III study of gemcitabine, epirubicin and paclitaxel (GET) versus epirubicin and paclitaxel (ET) in the treatment of metastatic breast cancer will be launched on a global scale within the near future. Furthermore there is the intent of initiating a global study on the treatment
of adjuvant breast cancer.
Studies for the treatment of urothelial cancer, pancreatic cancer and second line germ cell cancer are under preparation.
